Member of The Month – Zach Harp
Zach became serious about working out in January 2019 after finding out he needed to lose weight in order to join the army. He buckled down on his workouts and diet, he has since lost 40lbs. Zach left for basic training on August 20, 2019. He is a great example of how if you work hard and stay focused you will reach your goals.
Zach has been working out since his freshman year of high school but really got serious about it in January of 2019 after talking to a recruiter in the fall about joining the Army. Since January he has gotten both physically and mentally stronger. He was told he needed to lose 30lbs in order to start the process of joining the Army. Zach buckled down and did just that. He cut out most of the added sugar in his diet and started working out most days of the week. There were months where he would even come in twice a day. That coupled with a healthier diet made it possible for Zach to lose 40lbs. Owner of Lacon Fitness and Tan, Amanda Barnett said, “I would be working out or teaching a class at 5:30 am or 6 am and there was Zach running on the treadmill and lifting weights. You don’t see very many people Zach’s age up that early. At that time of day, it is mainly people who have to be at work early in the day. I think it says something about Zach, that he was willing to get up early to work out in order to reach his goals when he could have easily slept in. You could tell he wanted his goal bad by the way he worked out so hard. Another thing that stood out to me was how humble Zach was/is. Being humble and hardworking is a great combination”.
When he isn’t working out, Zach enjoys being outside, hiking in the woods, and hanging out with his friends. He has recently started playing frisbee golf. Zach likes that Lacon Fitness and Tan is 24 hours so that he can workout whenever he pleases. He also likes how friendly everyone is. Zach’s advice for others is to “keep going half the battle is showing up and I know a lot of people say that but it’s the truth”. Zach left for basic training at the end of August. Everyone at Lacon Fitness and Tan is so excited for him and wishes him the very best of luck!!!
