Member of the Month – Debbie Kenady
It isn’t easy trying new things, but that hasn’t stopped Debbie. Over the past year Debbie has participated in the 100 Challenge, taken various group fitness classes, and most recently just completed her first 5k. She is the perfect example of how a person can get even better than they are by getting out of their comfort zone.
Lacon Fitness and Tan: How long have you been working out and how did you get into it?
Debbie: About a year and a half. I really started exercising after I injured my hamstring. I felt I needed to build more muscle and get better balance so I decided to hit the gym.
Debbie: I like to attend the variety classes the gym offers and also throw in some cardio.
LFT: It seems like in the past year or so you have really gotten out of your comfort zone. Last year you participated in the 100 Challenge and most recently you have done 5k Training. Can you tell me a little bit about how all of this came about?
LFT: What made you decide to conquer these challenges?
Debbie: You are right, I like to stay in my comfort zone and I get nervous when it comes to change. I feel that the best part of my success is attending the group fitness classes that are offered. I have met a lot of great friends and now workout buddies that have kept me motivated and on track. I also feel good and good about myself.
LFT: Cardio vs. Strength which is your favorite?
LFT: What is your favorite exercise?
Debbie: I really like using the free weights.
LFT: What is your least favorite exercise?
LFT: When you aren’t working or at the gym, what do you like to do for fun?
Debbie: I like to bake, garden and spend time outdoors with my husband Matt and my dog Oliver.
LFT: What is your favorite thing about Lacon Fitness and Tan?
Debbie: I enjoy that it offers a little something for anyone and that it is 24/7.
LFT: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Debbie: I have taken a ride in a hot air balloon.
LFT: What?!?! A hot air balloon?! That is so cool! Was it scary?
Debbie: That is funny, I am afraid of heights, but I was not scared at all! It is so peaceful and quiet, it was very exciting! The only part that was not enjoyable was the landing, its not a very easy landing. I would do it again in a minute!
LFT: What is your favorite “cheat food”?
Debbie: Ice cream
LFT: What advice do you have for other gym members?
Debbie: Be consistent and find something that you enjoy.
