Jake Brown M.O.M.
Jake is an all around great guy! He is a hard worker yet humble. We really got to know Jake during 5K training and that is when he stood out to us. He always gives it 110% and never gives up. He is a great role model for others who are inspiring to change their health and lives for the better.
Lacon Fitness and Tan: How long have you been working out and how did you get into it?
Jake: On and off since high school so 20yrs. I started in high school because of wrestling and baseball.
LFT: What made you decide to do 5k training? Was there any hesitation? If so, how did you overcome it?
Jake: I was really proud of my wife, Emily, on how hard she has been working out. She has really been pushing herself in the gym and outside of it. Once she signed up for the exercise to Memphis, then her 1st 5k (bootlegger), and now Chicago to Peoria St. Jude run it just hit me that I should see what I can do. Having 2 kids we wanted to get in better shape and help keep them active. I was a little nervous at first being a big guy that always lifted and cardio was a foreign language to me.
LFT: Cardio vs. Strength which is your favorite?
Jake: I have always been into lifting. Never in a million years would I have thought I’d be doing 5k training. It’s weird to say that I am starting to enjoy it. If you would of asked me before this I would have said strength all day, but now I see myself doing both.
LFT: What is your favorite exercise?
Jake: Bench is my all time favorite. If I could choose a 2nd I would pick any kind of shoulder press
LFT: What is your least favorite exercise?
Jake: Anything to do with abs lol
LFT: When you aren’t working or at the gym, what do you like to do for fun?
Jake: Anything with my family and fishing.
LFT: What is your favorite thing about Lacon Fitness and Tan?
Jake: The people! I have never been somewhere that everyone is so nice and makes you feel welcome.
LFT: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Jake: I will pick a romance comedy before a horror movie any day of the week.
LFT: What is your favorite romantic comedy?
Jake: Can’t pick just one lol. It’s a toss-up between Coming to America and Wedding Crashers
LFT: What is your favorite “cheat food”?
Jake: Cheesenuts and Emily’s homemade cinnamon rolls
LFT: I have also had your wives homemade cinnamon rolls and I can vouge for their greatness
LFT: What advice do you have for other gym members?
Jake: If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.
